This Project
"Cross - X"
is a cross platform explorer that allows universal access of all types
of file system in a heterogeneous network environment having different
platforms such as Windows, Linux, Solaris, etc. The tool allows all normal
operations such as open ,delete ,copy ,cut , paste, rename, property
changing etc to be performed on the files of all types. The tool implements
security in file access by authenticating the user before entering into each
system with the username and password of the particular system being
accessed.
This tool Cross X is a very useful and important tool
in the places where a heterogeneous network is involved i.e. a network in
which systems with different platforms are found. This project may be used
in Educational institutions, Developmental Areas, Research Centers and many
other technical areas where a collection of heterogeneous systems are found
This tool is implemented by using the concept of Distributed Computing in
Java namely, Remote Method Invocation (RMI).
This tool Cross-X was
purely implemented for Educational purpose and not for any commercial
activities
